Where are you from/ where is your hometown?
I’m originally from Bolivia, a country rich in culture, resilience, and strong family values. Growing up there taught me the importance of staying grounded and connected to others.
What makes you excited to be a Family Medicine Resident in Tucson?
Tucson is a place where culture, resilience, natural beauty, and genuine kindness come together in a way that makes you feel at home. As someone who’s been a patient, I know how powerful it is to be truly seen and cared for. Family Medicine gives me the chance to offer that same care across generations. I’m honored to join Northwest’s inaugural class and help shape a program that reflects the heart of this community.
How do you spend a free weekend?
On weekends, I like to lift weights, swim, explore new restaurants, and hang out with my pets and my wife, of course, she’s the fun one.
Where is your ideal vacation?
My ideal vacation is like hitting the reset button somewhere peaceful. Whether it’s by the ocean or in the mountains, where I can stay in one place, enjoy a light hike, try new food, read a good book, and spend time with my family and pets. It’s less about the destination and more about recharging and being fully present with the people I love.
Who’s your favorite superhero and why?
My favorite superhero is Professor X from X-Men. Not just because we share the same haircut, but because he embodies the kind of physician and person I aspire to be. Professor X leads with wisdom, empathy, and vision. He sees the potential in every individual, meets them where they are, and helps them thrive not by overpowering them, but by understanding and guiding them.
To me, that’s the essence of family medicine. It’s about building trust, seeing the whole person, and creating a safe space for healing and growth. Like Professor X, family physicians serve as steady anchors in times of uncertainty supporting patients through challenges and championing their well-being across every stage of life.
As I begin residency, I carry that same commitment: to lead with heart, to listen deeply, and to keep learning because just like Professor X, I believe empathy is a superpower.
