Northwest Healthcare Internal Medicine Residency Program participants will train primarily at our flagship hospital, Northwest Medical Center. Some rotations will be scheduled at Oro Valley Hospital which is just a short drive away.

Northwest Medical Center is a 300-bed hospital offering a wide range of healthcare services including emergency services, accredited chest pain center, neurology, outpatient imaging, a nationally accredited surgical weight loss program, total joint program, spine program, stroke center, robotic surgery, GI lab, a free-standing women’s center, women’s imaging center of excellence (including 3D mammography) and urgent care facilities throughout Tucson.
Northwest Medical Center also has ambulatory surgery centers and Northwest Primary and Specialty Care, a multi-specialty clinic group with more than 100 employed providers. Residents training at Northwest Medical Center will be integrated into our team-oriented working environment with the full support of hospital administration, the medical staff, the program’s faculty and staff and all other valued members of the patient care team.
Expected assigned educational experiences at this participating site include Cardiology, Critical Care Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Inpatient Medicine and Night Float, Geriatrics, Neurology, Outpatient Medicine (Continuity Clinic) and individualized educational experiences (electives) in most internal medicine subspecialties. Electives are anticipated to be a mix of inpatient and outpatient experiences based on the individualized needs of the resident with most outpatient subspecialty clinics within one block (three-minute walk) of the main building.

Oro Valley Hospital (OVH) is a 146-bed, all private-room acute-care hospital where technology and skilled professionals come together to provide compassionate, customer-focused care. Our key services include orthopedics, inpatient rehabilitation, cardiology, minimally invasive surgery, gastroenterology, cardiopulmonary testing, imaging and diagnostics, emergency medicine, and an adult behavioral health unit.
Oro Valley Hospital also offers post-acute care in two separate settings – skilled nursing facility inside of the hospital and a freestanding inpatient rehabilitation facility on the campus of Northwest Medical Center.
