Why did you choose NW Transitional Year Residency?
My initial interview was the reason—from just the single conversation I had with my interviewer, I could tell how genuine this program is in investing in its residents’ well being and endeavors. I was not proven wrong!

What were your favorite elective during your TY residency?
Infectious Disease and Pediatrics—ID because I learned about appropriate handling of an often overprescribed class of medications; and Peds because it cultivated a relaxed and inviting environment perfect for sorting through the details of care and management of an important subpopulation.

What are your professional interests within your specialty?
Wound care and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine—any opportunity I can get to do a procedure is welcomed.

What did you enjoy most about life in Tucson?
Finding fun in the nooks and crannies. There’s quite a lot to do here in Tucson! You only have to look for it.

Favorite way to spend a day off?
Going out for a drive to somewhere new, or going out for a drive for the fun of it. I might stop to get some dessert on the way.

Any advice for future interns?
Intern year can be overwhelming. New system, new place, new people. More than likely, you won’t be the only one to feel that way. When you start to experience that overwhelming feeling, don’t be afraid to reach out your hand and say, “Hey, I need help.” You’ll be surprised at how many hands reach back.
