Northwest Healthcare Family Medicine Residency is committed to a transparent, respectful, and holistic recruitment process. We seek residents who are prepared for broad-spectrum Family Medicine, value comprehensive and continuous care, contribute positively to a team, and want to help shape a growing, resident-centered program.
We recruit nine categorical PGY-1 residents each year.
All interviews for the 2027 Match season will be conducted virtually.
Our first interview date is October 5, 2026, and our final interview date is January 11, 2027.
Applicants may begin submitting MyERAS applications on September 2, 2026. Programs may begin reviewing applications on September 23, 2026. We will begin reviewing complete applications as soon as they become available and will issue interview invitations on a rolling basis until all available interview dates are filled.
We review the application as a whole. Academic performance is considered together with clinical experiences, letters of recommendation, personal and professional growth, service, leadership, communication, commitment to Family Medicine, and alignment with our mission. No single data point defines an applicant.
We utilize and appreciate program signals as a meaningful indication of applicant interest. A signal is not required for consideration and does not guarantee an interview. Applicants who do not signal our program may still receive full consideration based on the strength and alignment of their application.
We have a soft preference for applicants who graduated from medical school within the past five years. This is not an absolute cutoff. Applicants who graduated more than five years ago may receive individualized consideration, particularly when they demonstrate ongoing clinical activity, recent training, meaningful professional growth, or strong alignment with our program’s mission.
Passing each required USMLE Step or COMLEX-USA Level on the first attempt is preferred. Applicants with more than one attempt on any examination are not automatically excluded; these applications receive individualized review in the context of the applicant’s complete academic and professional record.
Three or more months of U.S. clinical experience is recommended.
We sponsor J-1 visas.
International medical graduates are evaluated through the same holistic review process, with consideration of clinical readiness, recent experience, communication, growth, and mission alignment.
We welcome applications from candidates who are applying to more than one specialty when their experiences and goals align with our mission. Strong applicants will demonstrate genuine interest in comprehensive care, experience caring for underserved or diverse populations, broad clinical interests, and an understanding of the scope and continuity that define Family Medicine.
Applicants may cancel an interview or request rescheduling at least seven calendar days before the scheduled interview date. Rescheduling is subject to availability. Requests or cancellations within seven days of the interview are reviewed on a case-by-case basis, recognizing that emergencies and unexpected circumstances may occur.
We anticipate offering an optional second-look event in late January 2027. The exact date and format will be announced during interview season. Participation will be optional and will not affect an applicant’s position on the program’s rank list.
